How to ride a bicycle

I have been trying to teach Parson and Josh to ride their bikes. I took their training wheels off and have been more or less holding them up as they try to figure it out. I try to be calm and positive to them. Most people see me as a patient person, but when I am doing this, I lose my patience! I don't know why I get so frustrated. Sooo... I know I don't have that many readers, but if there is anyone reading this that has any advice or ideas to help the boys or to help me in this situation, I would love to hear from them!

I have never taught my kids to ride their bikes because I am too wimpy to force them to do it. My husband hold on and pushes them off and they learn. I have been impressed that it works. I cannot watch because it scares me to death! I have a friend who was taking months pushing her son around and then my husband talked to her husband he was off too. One of my friends took the pedals off so her kid could learn to glide and balance. I think thats extreme. When faced with a little tumble near grass your sons might surprise you too.

Thanks for your nice comments on my blog. Thanks for coming out and saying hi.

I have only taught my daughter to ride a bike, but I took her to the park and had her learn on the grass. I'd run along holding the bike up and then eventually let go.......your frustration sounds like mine teaching my kids to read. he he.

Hi Jaime! It's Debra from the Momo boards. I SO feel your frustration! I taught my son how to ride a bike when I was pregnant with the twins. I became very frustrated too. I did exactly what Angie did.. taught them on the grass. For some reason it worked really well. They never knew when I took my hands off their bike.

Good luck!!! I promise they do eventually ride!! I am teaching my 2 girls this summer. I have a feeling I will not have a problem with my twin boys wanting to learn as they LOVE falling off their trikes now and laughing.
