Photo Story Friday

PhotoStory Friday
Hosted by Cecily and MamaGeek

Yesterday, I went with my sister to try to get some good fall pictures of her family and my kids. We drove out to where she had seen some awesome fall colors a few days previously.
We started our little photo shoot and were able to get some cute shots. The ones she took of her kids were absolutely gorgeous! My kids weren't cooperating so much. I had been on the run most of the day and had some very tired little girls!
Here are a few of the shots I took of my kids:Parson with a cheeser!
Joshua with a robot smile!

I actually got a few half-smiles out of Ellie!
Abbie wanted no part in any of this!
Can you tell I had very little cooperation? We had potential to get some really good ones, but nobody wanted to participate! That is usually the way it goes for me. I really need to learn to use good software so I can just combine the good faces to the good poses. Especially in the group/family pics. That would be very helpful!
Anyway, back to the story. After about 45 minutes or so of taking all kinds of pictures, my niece starts screaming. Not even 10 seconds later Joshua starts screaming. Only seconds later I see a bee on my sisters arm and realize we are under attack! Everyone starts running back towards the cars, swatting at bees as we go. In the minute it took us to get back by our cars, we had 8 stings! And a lot of hysterical kids! For my family the casualties were Joshua and Ellie. Joshua had been stung almost right between his eyebrows. Ellie had two, one on her eyebrow and one on the side of her face. It was crazy! They seriously came out of nowhere and just attacked us!
This morning Joshua got out of bed and his face was all swollen up and he was nauseous.

He came to me and said, "Mom, I am very sad." I asked him why and he told me, "because I just looked in the mirror and I don't look like me anymore."
I had no idea he was allergic to bees, or that a reaction would happen a day later. After a dose of benadryl and a trip to the doctor, I am now equipped with an epipen. And I hope with all my heart I never have to use it!

Oh my, that is scary. I am glad that his allergy wasn't more severe.

The pictures are adorable...even though the kids didn't want to cooperate.

And bee stings? 8 stings? Ouch! I'm glad that Joshua is getting some meds...I'm sure that will help him feel better quickly!

Some of my most favorite photos are from when my kids are not cooperating.

Yikes on the bee stings! Hope he feels better!

awww - so sweet and sad. Love the fall pictures and gave me a great idea - I so need to do this - but it needs to stop raining here!!

Wow! So glad he did not have a more severe reaction! I guess bees are a hazard of nature photoshooting! I think your photos are very good..I think you captured some great expressions even if not what you wanted. And...we do not have fall colors here in OK yet, that was a beautiful location!

Oh, that is one of the saddest things I've ever heard (well, read about) a little boy say!! I'm glad he's okay, and HOPE HOPE you never have to use that epipen!

And I like the pics you took of the kids!! That last one of your daughter is beautiful (but I am super partial to shots of kids looking down for some reason)!!

That's the story of my life. Potential, but no cooperation. You did snag some cute one's. I can't tell the girls apart at all. :)

I think the photos are adorable...even without the cooperation. Your girls are adorable! I love the little half smile! Sorry about the bad ending. That is really scary, but I'm glad he is okay. Poor little guy.

That is crazy with the bees. Looks like the background was beautiful for pictures. Here the trees are still green or a lovely :-( shade of brown.

Oldest daughter is allergic to all stings, blows up like balloon when stung. The last one was on her lip and her whole head and neck swelled up. We are now also equipped with an epipen. Good luck! LOL

Poor kids. That happened to us one time and my sister and brother got it so bad. My poor brothers eyes were swollen shut. I hate bees.

I'm glad you're armed with the epipen incase it ever happens again. Poor kids.

Wow, that is frightening. I hope he gets feeling better.
I really like the little half smile, by the way!

holy moly - how freaky!! I agree - I hope you NEVER have to use that epipen - EVER.
The pics were cute - but I know what you mean when you have an ideal setting & get mediocre to little cooperation.

I didn't know a reaction could take a day to show up either. That's scary!! I'm glad he's ok. Your photos are really cute. The background is perfect, too!

Not cool! bees are scary little tiny creatures who can pack a big sting.
The shots are pretty good and the memories will last a long time.

Yikes...what a way to end the day. Your poor kiddos. We have an epi-pen for my daughter who is allergic to peanuts. Luckily we have never had to use it. The doc just told me that when the pen expires I should give a shot to a grapefruit just to know what it feels like in case we ever have to use it---not really looking forward to that, but I guess it is better to be prepared.

Wow, about the bees. Thank goodness nobody is seriously allergic.
