Lake Powell Fun!

We were able to go on a little vacation this week! WooHoo!

We left Saturday early in the AM and arrived at Lake Powell that morning. We stayed until Wednesday mid-morn. My family has vacationed there every year as long as I can remember. It's so much fun! Although it can be pretty scary, too, if the weather is bad. This trip we endured some pretty strong wind at bed time every night, but that was the worst of it. It caught us off guard the first night and actually broke one of our tent poles. (Did I mention that I just bought this tent for Matt for Father's Day? Piece of crap!)
After that we were ready for it, though.

We had a lot of fun! We swam a whole lot. We also jumped some small cliffs, rode the hotdog and tubes, and wake boarded. We even had a King of the Hill contest. We didn't go out and see a lot of sites or canyons like we usually do, due to gas prices.
The kids love to go camping and sleep in a tent. They all loved the water, too. Their worst complaint was always sunscreen. They hate sunscreen! The boys loved riding on the hot dog. We actually even got the girls out there on the hot dog. Ellie loved it! She was all smiles and she kept saying, "Whee!" Abbie was less enthusiastic and cried the whole time. Oh well.

We shared our campsite with a few toads, tons of fish, dozens of lizards, and a scorpion. On day 2 my brother-in-law came across this unexpected visitor.
Yep, it's a rattler. In all our years at Lake Powell, we've never come across one of these until this year. Scary!

We had a great trip! And fortunately, we made it home without any major sunburns or injuries!!:)

I went to Lake Powell EVERY summer as a child and have some of the best memories there. I NEVER saw a rattler. And I'm glad. The trip sounds so successful! :)

So that's where you've been hiding. I was wondering why I hadn't seen blog posts. I've never been there. I wanna go.

I would have seriously freaked seeing a rattler.

Your photos are gorgeous, what a fabulous time you had.

Your a fast poster. This is the first I've looked since we've been back. I like how you did the pics, you need to show me how to do all that cool stuff. Will you email me some of the powell pics?

I am so seriously scared of snakes that seeing that snake made me feel sick. I cannot even look at it. I was all for going to Lake Powell (never been) until I saw that! Seriously I am FREAKED! The rest of the pictures are totally amazing, the snake not so much! Glad everyone was okay!
